Fanduel NFL Week 7 NFL Picks 10/23/2017 Washington Redskins vs. Philadelphia Eagles DFS Top Picks for Fanduel NFL and DraftKings
It wasn’t easy but Kirk Cousins completed 25 of 37 for 330 yards with two TDs and a pick to lead Washington over San Francisco by just two points. The 49ers were coming off two straight road games and an overtime loss to the Colts, while the Skins were coming off a bye. Yet the 49ers had this game tied at 17-17 with 3:01 left in the third quarter on a Carlos Hyde one-yard run. Washington scored nine straight points on a Dustin Hopkins 21-yard field goal and a Cousins 7-yard run. Cousins is not known for his running but he’s been rushing more in Jay Gruden’s offense. He already has a career-high 103 yards rushing to go along with 1,334 yards passing with nine TDs and just two picks (106.4 QB rating). There’s a little more pressure on Cousins due to Washington’s inconsistent running game. Chris Thompson led all rushers with 33 yards on 16 attempts. He made up for it with four catches for 105 yards. Washington may not have a great lead rusher but they do average 122.8 yards per game on the ground because they spread it around. On defense, they are much-improved this season, allowing 316 yards per game (12th) and just 88 rushing yards per game (8th). The big story in Philadelphia is the evolution of Carson Wentz from up-and-down rookie quarterback to potentially an elite one in his second season. Wentz threw three touchdown passes against a strong Carolina defense, including two to tight end Zach Ertz. But the return of defensive tackle Fletcher Cox from injury was just as key. Cox hit quarterback Cam Newton and force an interception that was picked off by cornerback Rasul Douglass. Cox also helped the Eagles’ run defense hold running backs Jonathan Stewart, Christian McCaffrey and Fozzy Whittaker to just one yard on 13 carries. Newton threw 52 passes and completed 28, tossing just one TD and throwing three picks. He also ran for 71 yards with a score. Wenz wasn’t accurate, completing 16 of 30 for 222 yards but threw no picks though he fumbled once, which led to a Panthers’ TD. LeGarrette Blount rushed for 67 yards on 14 carries, while Alshon Jeffery caught four passes for 71 yards and Nelson Agholor had four receptions for 55 yards and a TD. Wentz has thrown for 1,584 yards with 13 TDs and just three picks (99.6 QB rating). The Eagles rank fourth in total yards per game (383.2ypg), ninth in passing yards (250.7ypg) and fifth in rushing yards per game (132.5ypg). They rank second in rushing yards per game allowed (65.7ypg) and 29th in passing yards allowed (273.5ypg). Washington has some injury issues on defense. Star corner Josh Norman (ribs) might play but he won’t be 100 percent. Star rookie DE Jonathan Allen has a foot injury and corner Bashaun Breeland has an MCL injury. Now they face a strong young quarterback in Carson Wentz, who threw for 307 yards with two TDs in the first meeting. Now he’s even better and so are the Eagles.
