The Seahawks made a significant deal this past Friday, sending wide receiver Jermaine Kearse and a 2018 second-round pick to the Jets in exchange for former Pro Bowl defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson. Seattle and New York are also swapping 2018 seventh-round picks. The Seahawks also made a trade with New England on the same day, shipping away a a seventh-round pick and getting veteran reserve cornerback Justin Coleman in return. But it is the Richardson deal that steals the headlines. The former University of Missouri standout racked up 18 sacks and 240 total tackles in 58 games during his tenure with the Jets. He does, however, come with off-the-field concerns (once suspended for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy and arrested in 2015 after reportedly driving in excess of 140 miles per hour with a loaded handgun and a 12-year-old child in his car). Seattle’s defense was already solid to begin with. The unit was eighth against the pass in 2016 and seventh against the run. The Packers and Seahawks have faced each other a whopping five times since 2012. Seattle is 3-2 in those games, with a duo of memorable victories included i in the three wins. In the 2014 NFC Championship, the Packers led 19-7 with three minutes remaining only to lose in overtime. They also lost on the “Fail Mary” in 2012. Green Bay, however, has won the last two meetings–including a 38-10 blowout of Seattle in Week 14 last season. In that contest, quarterback Aaron Rodgers torched the Seahawks for 246 yards and three touchdowns while throwing a mere five incomplete passes. Rodgers, running back Ty Montgomery, and the majority of that offense is back for the Pack in 2017. “I feel good about the guys we have, the guys coming back and the young guys who are really taking a step in the right direction,” linebacker Clay Matthews said. “I feel ready to go.” The Seahawks’ trip to Lambeau Field last year did not end well. In fact, it didn’t even start well. It was bad from start to finish. Green Bay wrapped up the 2016 campaign as one of the hottest teams in football but simply could not keep up with Atlanta’s high-powered offensive attack on the road in the NFC title game. Seattle is 0-4 ATS in its last four on the road and 1-5 ATS in its last six on grass. The Packers are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall, 4-0 ATS in their last four at home, 4-1 ATS in their last five against the NFC, 6-2-2 ATS in the last eight meetings between the two teams, and 4-0-1 ATS in their last five at home against the Seahawks. Look for those trends to continue. leather iphone 7 case
