Daily Fantasy Football NFL 2017 Preseason New Orleans Saints vs Los Angeles Chargers Top Picks for Fanduel & DraftKings
The Los Angeles Chargers and New Orleans Saints will continue their preseasons when they face each other at the StubHub Center in Los Angeles on Sunday evening. New Orleans lost its opener to Cleveland this past week. The Chargers are set for their second straight game in their new home stadium following a blowout loss to Seattle. Starting quarterback Drew Brees did not play in the preseason opener against the Browns, as Chase Daniel got the not under center for the first two series. Daniel completed four of six passes for 27 yards. Garrett Grayson took over the passing game on New Orleans’ third drive in the first quarter and completed 11-of-16 passes for 126 yards and a 92.2 passer rating. Ryan Nassib made his team debut during the last drive of the third quarter, on which he completed all three of his pass attempts for 32 yards and a score. Overall, Nassib completed 10-of-14 passes for 110 yards, one touchdown, and a 118.2 passer rating. The defense also performed better than the Saints are used to and picked up four sacks’ versus Cleveland. Defensive end Mitchell Loewen had 1.5 sacks, three QB hurries, and two tackles. The StubHub Center opener did not go well at all, although the Chargers will only be concerned if that happens again in the regular season. What happened in the stadium’s preseason debut was a 48-17 blowout loss to Seattle. Philip Rivers threw a touchdown pass to tight end Antonio Gates on the home team’s opening drive, but it went downhill from there. The Chargers’ defense was especially bad, giving up 458 yards of total offense–including 325 through the air. There are many questions surrounding the Chargers season. After being moved from San Diego to Los Angeles and another disappointing season under Phillip Rivers, the team is considered to be decent on offence but has some holes on the defensive side of the ball. Melvin Gordon had a breakout season last year and it remains to be seen if he can repeat the kind of touchdown magic he had after collecting absolutely no TDs in 2015. Danny Woodhead went down early last season for the Chargers so that certainly helped open up the opportunities for Gordon. Woodhead is now residing in Baltimore so the opportunities will be there yet again. Gordon will likely have to improve his running game if he wants to be considered as one of the truly explosive backs in the game. He averaged only 3.9 yards per carry last season and will have to improve on that going forward. He had 10 TDs but 6 came within the first 4 weeks of the campaign and he managed only one in his last four games before going down with an injury. Look for this to be a bit of a shootout.
