Daily Fantasy Football NFL 2017 Preseason New York Jets vs Detroit Lions Top Picks for Fanduel & DraftKings
Two teams that were victorious in week one of the NFL preseason will do battle on Saturday in Detroit. The Lions made a trip to Indianapolis and took a 24-10 win over the Colts. The Jets, meanwhile, hosted a real snooze fest in New Jersey, before coming out on top, 7-3, over the Titans. The teams are heading in two completely different directions going into the regular season. Regardless, you should expect each team to come to play come Saturday night. The Jets will be looking to just fast forward through this season and hope to have a top, if not first overall pick in next years draft. In the offseason, the team said goodbye to names like Darrelle Revis, Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker, Nick Mangold, and David Harris. The quarterback competition is comical with Josh McCown, Bryce Petty, and Christian Hackenberg competing for the top spot. That should tell you how well the QB position should go for the NYJ in 2017. It was Josh McCown who started the game for the Jets on last Saturday, and the career backup tossed a 4-yard TD pass to Charone Peake, the winning and only score for New York on the evening. At 38, McCown is the leader in the current quarterback rotation but probably not ideal for a team that wants to contend. Hackenberg, who was drafted in the second-round of the 2016 draft, took over from there. He would go 18 for 25 on the evening, good enough for 127 yards, and seven first downs. He would go on to lose a fumble on the last of his eight drives. Bryce Petty went 2 of 6 for 16 yards to finish the night. The defense certainly showed promise, finishing the night with eight sacks. Detroit finished 9-7 a year ago, becoming the last team to slip into the NFC Playoffs. They would lose to an experienced playoff team in the opening round, Seattle, but considering how little was expected of the squad once Megatron suddenly retired before the beginning of the 2016 season, it was still considered something to build upon. Matthew Stafford has been firmly at the helm for several years now, and the 29-year-0ld QB will be depended on heavily during the 2017 season if the Lions hope to contend. In the preseason opener, Detroit showed some flashes in their 14-point win in Indianapolis. Backup QB Jake Rudock threw two touchdown passes, each to rookie wide receiver Kenny Golladay. Rudock would finish with 142 yards on 11-of-19 passing. Stafford began the game, but played just one series, throwing three passes, one of which was intercepted. Tight end Michael Roberts was the leading receiver on the evening, hauling in four passes, for 34 yards. Golladay had three catches for 53 yards and the two scores. The Lions should be on the good side of a blowout in this one as the Jets struggle to put up points and last weeks 8 sacks for the Jets defence seem like a fluke.
