Chris Sale     BOS vs  NYY     FD $11,300 DK $12,900

Boy oh boy… What an amazing start to Chris Sale’s first season on Boston. In 4 starts this season, Sale maintains a 0.91 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and a whopping 12.74 K/9. He is at home tonight against the Yankees, a lefty-favored lineup, which seems like a favorable matchup for the southpaw. Over the last three years, LHB have been hitting .205 with an abysmal .271 SLG against Sale. This season, the Yankees are batting .228 against LHP this season. Although Sale might be overpriced, take into account the small slate and the fact that he has been utterly dominant four starts in a row, even more, he is getting better as the starts go on. With over 10K in each of his last three starts, Sale preserves all of the qualities which give him an extremely good mix of balance and upside.  Moreover, with the Yankees scoring 3 or less runs in 3 of their last 4 games, it would very much surprise me if Sale does not toss 7 innings or give up more than 2 runs. Overall, he is almost certainly worth paying up for.

Taijuan Walker ARI  vs SD     FD $7,800 DK $8,900

Walker has been pretty average this season. Although, he has been considered a ‘sleeper’ for a couple of years now, a whole not much is expected out of him as Arizona’s third starter. He came out of spring training showing really good numbers but his first 4 starts of the season yield a 4.57 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP, not throwing more than 6 innings in any of the games. On the bright side, he has racked up two wins and has 6 or more strikeouts in 3 of his 4 starts.  The team he is facing tonight, the San Diego Padres, have the 6th worst batting avg. against RHP this season at .219. In his career against Padre hitters, Taijuan Walker is allowing a .267 avg. but it is a small sample size (4 hits / 15 AB). A good sign is that one of San Diego’s best hitters this season, Yangervis Solarte is 0/5 in his career against Walker. Overall, I expect Walker to throw at least 6 IP and strikeout 5 or more in the process, and with the way their bats have been swinging, I anticipate Arizona puts up enough run support to give him the win.

Julio Urias LOS  @ SFG     FD $7,700 DK $8,800

Julio Urias will make his first start of the season after posting strong numbers at Triple-A. Urias conceded just three runs in 14 innings pitched in the Minors before being recalled. The promising young left-hander was outstanding in his first taste of the Big Leagues last season, sporting a 3.39 ERA and a 5-2 record in 77 innings of work, and recorded 84  strikeouts. He made two appearances against the Giants last year and conceded three runs in 7.1 innings. Brandon Belt is 2 for 4 with a homer and three RBI’s against Urias, while Buster posey is 0 for 3, and Brandon Crawford is 1 for 2. Adrian Gonzalez has still yet to hit a homer this season heading into Wednesday’s acton. He has shown signs of turning it around, recorded five RBI’s over his last six games which is a good sign. The 13-year veteran is now hitting .265 with nine RBI’s on the season. Gonzalez hit .284 with 11 RBI’s against the Giants last season and is 1 for 7 with an RBI in the current series against L.A.

Kendall Graveman  OAK  @ LAA     FD $7,800 DK $7,900

Kendall Graveman takes the mound for the fourth time this season for Oakland in this contest. He is 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP with five walks against 12 strikeouts over 18 innings of work this season. Graveman has been on the 10 day disabled list with a right shoulder strain but is expected to be activated in time to start here. He took a no-decision in his last start, which came at home against the Astros on April 14. Graveman threw five innings, allowing a run on five hits with two walks and no strikeouts. The A’s lost the game, 7-2. He makes his eighth career start against the Angels in this contest. Graveman is 2-1 with a 3.32 ERA and a 1.254 WHIP over 40.2 innings of work against them. He is 1-1 with a 4.57 ERA and a 1.523 WHIP over 21.2 innings in four starts at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

Adam Wainwright STL  vs TOR     FD $7,900 DK $7,300

Adam Wainwright will take the mound for the fifth time of the campaign, aiming for his second straight win. Wainwright conceded two runs in six innings pitched to the Brewers in his latest effort and collected his first victory of the year. The veteran right-hander is off to a shaky start to the season, posting a 6.27 ERA and a 1-3 record in 18.2 innings of work, and has not pitched more than five innings. He has only made one start in his career against the Blue Jays which came in 2010 where he allowed four runs in four innings. Jose Bautista is 6 for 18 against Wainwright, while Russell Martin is 11 for 30, and Troy Tulowitzki is 3 for 15 with two RBI’s. Dexter Fowler is starting to show signs of heating up at the dish after a miserable start, collecting seven hits along with two homers and four RBI’s in his last six games played. The career .266 hitter is hitting an abysmal .184 with two homers and four RBI’s on the season. Fowler finished last season with a .276 average and an outstanding .393 on base percentage, and it is only a matter a time before he starts to hit with regularity.
