Takedown Defense: 61.39%
Submission Avg: 1.18%

Who ya got?
Holloway is on a 9 fight win streak and this is his chance to get the publicity his fights need. He’s a very dangerous striker that brings an impressive pace and aggression to his fights. Pettis is the former lightweight champ that moved down to featherweight after losing the belt and three fights in a row. He won an impressive fight against Charles Oliveira by submission (guillotine choke) in his featherweight debut. This may be cliche but it feels like Holloway’s time to shine. Pettis is an amazing fighter that could very well win and win impressively. However I’m going with Holloway.

Donald Cerrone (DK $9,300) vs Matt Brown (DK $6,900)

Donald Cerrone “Cowboy”

Takedown Avg: 1.68%
Takedown Accuracy: 47.92%
Takedown Defense: 61.54%
Submission Avg: 1.68%

Who ya got?
Cerrone has looked great as a welterweight and seems to have found a home in the weight class. He’s a better fighter than Brown; although Brown is no slouch. I’m taking Cerrone with the decision win.

Cub Swanson (DK $7,300) vs Doo-Ho Choi (DK $8,900)

Cub Swanson
Record: 23-7-0
Weight Class: Featherweight 145lbs

Doo-Ho Choi
Record: 14-1-0
Weight Class: Featherweight 145lbs

Age: 25
Height: 5’ 10”
Reach: 70”
Significant Strikes Landed per Min: 7.03
Accuracy: 66.67%
Significant Strikes Absorbed per Min: 2.2
Striking Defense: 64.29%
Takedown Avg: 0%
Takedown Accuracy: 0%
Takedown Defense: 33.33%
Submission Avg: 0%

Who ya got?
Choi has been knocking dudes out recently. His last three fights have lasted a combined 4 minutes 6 seconds. A full round is 5 minutes…his last three fights haven’t even lasted the length of one round. Cub Swanson is a really good all around fighter that has been KO’d once in his career. If I was Swanson I would throw my jab, leg kicks, circle and look for the takedown. He’ll probably go in guns blazing. If he does he could get finished early. If Swanson gets Choi on the mat it will be really interesting to see how Choi responds. I’m going to Choi in this one due to the upside of his early finishes.

Tim Kennedy (DK $8,300) vs Kelvin Gastelum (DK $7,900)

Tim Kennedy
Record: 18-5-0
Weight Class: Middleweight 185lbs
From: San Luis Obispo, USA

Age: 37
Height: 5’ 11”
Reach: 74”
Significant Strikes Landed per Min: 2.72

Takedown Accuracy: 35.14%
Takedown Defense: 70.97%
Submission Avg: 0.77%

Kelvin Gastelum
Record: 13-2-0
Weight Class: Welterweight 170lbs
From: San Jose, USA
Fights Out Of: Yuma, USA
Age: 25
Height: 5’ 9”
Reach: 71”
Significant Strikes Landed per Min: 3.89
Accuracy: 42.22%
Significant Strikes Absorbed per Min: 2.65
Striking Defense: 64.17%
Takedown Avg: 1.15%
Takedown Accuracy: 50%
Takedown Defense: 62.5%
Submission Avg: 0.26%

Who ya got?
Gastelum had issues making weight and was unable to fight on the UFC 205 card and has moved up from welterweight to take this fight at middleweight. Gastelum is a tough guy. Tim Kennedy is tougher. Kennedy served in the Army Special Forces and eluded on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast that he had been taking private security work around the world. So Gastelum is going to get beatdown by a Green Beret. I can see Kennedy winning by submission or TKO with stoppage due to strikes. Maybe I’m not giving Gastelum enough credit, but I don’t see him winning this one.

Jordan Mein (DK $9,000) vs Emil Meek (DK 7,200)

Jordan Mein
Record: 29-10-0
Weight Class: Welterweight 170lbs
From: Lethbridge, Canada
Fights Out Of: Lethbridge, Canada
Age: 27
Height: 6’ 0”
Reach: 73”
Significant Strikes Landed per Min: 4.24
Accuracy: 43.69%
Significant Strikes Absorbed per Min: 2.9
Striking Defense: 71.49%
Takedown Avg: 0.81%
Takedown Accuracy: 80%
Takedown Defense: 61.54%
Submission Avg: 0%

Emil Meek “Valhalla”
Record: 8-2-1
Weight Class: Welterweight 170lbs
From: Trondheim, Norway
Age: 28
Height: 5’ 11”

Who ya got?
Meek is on a 3 fight win streak. Mein is coming off a 2nd round KO loss due to a kick to the body by Thiago Alves but has 16 TKO wins to his credit along with 7 submission and 6 decision wins. Mein is favored but don’t count Meek out. He’s a dangerous fighter who brings a lot of pressure. He’s going to be a handful for Mein. However the skill off Mein should be enough to earn him the decision win.

Prelims

Mitch Gagnon (DK $8,600) vs Matthew Lopez (DK $7,600)

Mitch Gagnon
Record: 12-3-0

Matthew Lopez
Record: 8-1-0
Weight Class: Bantamweight 135lbs
From: Safford, USA

Age: 29
Height: 5’ 7”
Reach: 69”

Striking Defense: 46.67%
Takedown Avg: 1.05%
Takedown Accuracy: 100%
Takedown Defense: 50%
Submission Avg: 2.1%

Who ya got?
I’m expecting Gagnon to get the submission win even though Lopez will be glad to grapple. It could be early but as Lopez losses steam I see it happening in the 3rd round.

Valerie Letourneau (DK $8,400) vs Viviane Pereira (DK $7,800)

Valeria Letourneau “Trouble”
Record: 8-5-0
Weight Class: Women’s Strawweight 115lbs
From: Montreal, Canada
Fights Out Of: Coconut Creek, USA
Age: 33
Height: 5’ 7”
Reach: 68”
Significant Strikes Landed per Min: 4.76
Accuracy: 39.09%
Significant Strikes Absorbed per Min: 6.08
Striking Defense: 57.62%
Takedown Avg: 0.73%
Takedown Accuracy: 40%
Takedown Defense: 71.43%
Submission Avg: 0.36%

Viviane Pereira
Record: 11-0-0
Weight Class: Women’s Strawweight 115lbs
From: Fortaleza, Brazil
Age: 23
Height: 5’ 0”

Who ya got?
Pereira has been doing work on the Brazilian fight scene. The problem is she is giving up 7 inches in height which could be a real issue when trying to land her strikes. If she can manage to overcome the height differential and land her shots she could win this fight. But I’m leaning toward Letourneau for the decision win.

Olivier Aubin-Mercier (DK $8,200) vs Drew Dober (DK $8,000)

Submission Avg: 2.07%

Misha Cirkunov
Record: 12-2-0
Weight Class: Light Heavyweight 205lbs
From: Riga, Latvia
Fights Out Of: Toronto, Canada
Age: 29
Height: 6’ 3”
Reach: 77”
Significant Strikes Landed per Min: 4.43

Striking Defense: 74.44%
Takedown Avg: 4.65%
Takedown Accuracy: 53.85%
Takedown Defense: 100%
Submission Avg: 1.33%

Who ya got?
Cirkunov is going to have to get past the pace set by Krylov and wear him out in the clinch. I think he gets it done and earns the decision win.

Who ya got?
Something to think about: Ortiz took this fight on a one month notice. I expect this to be a battle on the mat with Makovsky scoring points with the dominant position and ground passes. Makovsky wins the decision.
